Sans chichi
A prince is dining with his wife. On the table: Château Angélus 2015.
The maître d’hôtel wishes to present the wine for tasting. Then come the larger glasses, the suggestion of a decanter — everything a bottle like this is supposed to deserve.
The prince looks at the arrangement. « Pas de chichi. Servez directement tout le monde. »
So we did. There is sometimes an inverse relationship between the price of a bottle and the amount of ceremony its owner requires.
Le vin fut servi. Sans chichi.
